- Mpox: WHO maintains highest alert level
The number of cases and affected countries continues to rise, according to a statement released on Friday. “This decision was taken considering the increasing number of cases and their continued geographical spread, operational challenges on the ground, and the need to establish and maintain a coherent response across countries and partners,” the statement said. Increase in number of cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo “The WHO Director-General, following the advice of the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee, has found that the resurgence of Mpox continues to constitute a public health emergency of international concern,” the highest health alert level for the organization, which declared this USPPI on August 14 this year. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is the worst-affected country, followed by Burundi and Nigeria. The disease has long been known as “monkeypox” because it is caused by a virus similar to smallpox. However, health authorities no longer use the term to avoid racist connotations. Mpox is characterized by skin lesions such as pustules, high fever, and muscle pain. First identified in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 1970, the disease was long confined to about ten African countries. However, in 2022, it began to spread to the rest of the world, especially to developed countries where the virus had never circulated before. Two simultaneous outbreaks are ongoing: one in Central Africa, caused by clade 1, affecting mostly children, and the other in another region, in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in neighboring countries, caused by the new variant clade 1b, affecting adults. - Wegovy approved for reducing heart attack risk: What does it mean for people living with obesity and heart disease?
Wegovy offers people living with obesity and at risk of heart attack a new treatment option to combat both. Wegovy, a semaglutide injection manufactured by Novo Nordisk, has made waves for its ability to promote weight loss in people living with obesity. More recently, the drug has been studied extensively for other applications. Nonfatal myocardial infarction, or heart attack, is one of these applications. The drug, approved for the treatment of obesity in November 2021 and available to Canadians in May 2024, was investigated for its benefits against heart attack in people living with overweight or obesity in the Semaglutide Effects on Cardiovascular Outcomes in People with Overweight or Obesity SELECT trial. The study results showed that Wegovy reduces the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in adults with cardiovascular disease and a BMI greater than 27 kg/m² and has gained Health Canada approval as a treatment to reduce the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction. “Heart attacks deeply impact many families across our country. Wegovy is a clinically evaluated treatment that offers new hope for Canadians living with cardiovascular disease and obesity,” said Novo Nordisk Canada Inc. This new indication for an already well-known drug offers patients another tool to achieve and maintain a healthy weight while improving heart health. First Health Canada-approved treatment for weight and non-fatal heart attack risk management According to the Public Health Canada 2022 study, nearly one in three Canadians are living with obesity, which puts them at increased risk for many other harmful conditions, including heart disease, another disease that affects millions of Canadians. In addition to obesity, there are many risk factors for heart disease and stroke, including age, gender, other conditions such as diabetes, family history, and cultural and ethnic background. An estimated nine in 10 Canadians have at least one of these risk factors. Heart attack is the most common type of ischemic heart disease and is the leading cause of hospitalizations and the second leading cause of death in Canada. When it comes to obesity, “Canadians living with obesity are twice as likely to develop heart disease as those at a healthy weight,” according to the press release announcing the approval. Current approaches to prevent heart attacks in people at higher risk include: Lifestyle changes such as increasing exercise, eating healthier foods, managing weight, and avoiding smoking and alcohol Stress management Use of medications such as statins, aspirin, and dual antiplatelet therapy (a combination of aspirin and an antiplatelet drug) The new approval is the first of its kind to combat both obesity and heart health with a single medication. Since obesity and heart disease are closely linked, using Wegovy in this multi-purpose approach will help improve the quality of life for those living with both conditions. “The launch of semaglutide 2.4 mg as the only treatment proven to reduce non-fatal myocardial infarctions in overweight or obese patients without diabetes is a remarkable development,” said Dr. Subodh Verma, a cardiac surgeon-scientist and professor at the University of Toronto. “These data mark a new era in obesity treatment, shifting the focus from viewing obesity as a mere risk factor to recognizing it as a critical therapeutic target. This is a major advance and a pivotal moment for patients, representing a crucial step toward reducing the risk of a first or recurrent heart attack in this population.” CONTINUE THE NEWS>> Source: https://www.healthing.ca

- About me | cooktatlıhayat
Hello, I am Emine Ebru GÜNGÖR. I am a mother of 2 children and I still live with my family in Ankara. I have worked in the healthcare field for 15 years in critical positions such as operating room nurse in charge in both the public and private sectors. During this process, I acted with great responsibility for people's health, and these experiences have carried me to this day. In 2018, I had to leave my job due to my husband's overseas assignment. We returned to Turkey in 2020, and this return coincided with the pandemic process that affected the world. During these challenging times, I started researching new business ideas that I could establish with a minimum budget, independent of time and location, where I, as a housewife, could devote more time to myself, my wife and my children. I decided to give up the salaried jobs that made me time poor and follow my dreams. This decision led me to a wonderful project that offers us health, wealth and time. So much so that, by having the opportunity to work with my expert and experienced teammates in this project, I learned how a new generation of trade can be established on a global scale and how people can change their own lives, without risk, without stock, without taking on responsibilities such as transportation, delivery and collection. As I learned and experienced the positive effects of the products that are the basis of the project on human health, I set myself the goal of being able to sincerely share all my experiences and experiences in this field with everyone I could reach. This thought of mine formed the basis of establishing this site you are visiting now. Because my whole purpose is; In fact, it consists of touching everyone's life by explaining the fact that this e-commerce project, which affects people's health and existence, is as simple and simple as a housewife can do, and as respectable as a businessman can do, with the articles, articles, news content and visual videos on the site. I invite you to step into this new generation e-commerce world and discover products to open the doors to a healthy and energetic life. Don't forget! Taking the same step every day will not lead you to a different goal. Different steps produce different results. For this, get rid of your prejudices and let your decisions guide your life. If you want to join this journey, be with us. Because it is POSSIBLE to change your life. May you have a healthy and energetic life. Kind regards,
