Despite the increasing number of obesity cases today, children are especially at great risk. Expert Dietician Mısra Beste Köleoğlu, who spoke about obesity, which brings with it many illnesses, explained what can be done to prevent overeating in children. Köleoğlu, who made various suggestions to families, also touched on the importance of eating consciously.
Specialist Dietitian Misra Beste Köleoğlu from the Nutrition and Diet Clinic made statements about the relationship between obesity and screens. Noting that eating in front of a screen causes distraction and makes it difficult for children to realize how much they are eating, Specialist Dietitian Misra Beste Köleoğlu said, "Studies show that eating in front of a screen (especially while watching TV) increases energy intake by 20-30 percent. This situation significantly increases the risk of obesity."

Noting that children who eat in front of the screen usually prefer junk food that is higher in calories, sugar, fat and has low nutritional value, Specialist Dietician Köleoğlu stated that this situation increases the risk of developing metabolic syndrome components such as insulin resistance, high blood pressure and dyslipidemia, while preventing children from receiving the necessary vitamins and minerals and leading to nutritional deficiencies.
